Gift cards generate nearly $300 billion in revenue every year around the world. The typical gift card purchaser has low awareness and understanding of Airbnb’s product and brand, holding back potential new markets and revenue for Airbnb.
Although Airbnb had a gift card offering, it lacked a clear voice and scalable design system that would look consistent and well crafted across a myriad of retail formats around the world.
Working closely with Airbnb’s marketing and design teams, we developed a voice that clearly describes Airbnb’s product offerings while at the same time capturing an emotional benefit.
Retail is hand to hand combat, and the visual system we developed breaks through the clutter of the retail aisle. The system is based on a modular grid that scales across a myriad of retail formats in both print and digital form, guaranteeing the quality of the presentation in different retail formats around the world.
